A native of UP died of electrocution in his makeshift bathroom in a rented house at Khorlim-Mapusa on Monday.

According to reports, the deceased, Ram Nishad, had arrived in Khorlim barely eight days ago and was staying in a rented house belonging to Prakash alias Dhondu Naik.

Police is probing whether live wires had been deliberately laid on the compound wall, which led to the electrocution of Nishad.

According to sources, some unknown person would perform superstitious rituals in front of the house at night.

Live wires are alleged to have been placed on a compound wall in a bid to prevent the unwanted activities at night. Nishad may have accidentally come in contact with these live wires.

PSI Alvito Rodrigues conducted the inquest and the body has been sent to the GMC for an autopsy.
