Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday said his government is committed to making Goa self-reliant through various schemes and plans.
He was addressing a gathering after inaugurating the Bicholim Bazaar Complex Phase-I at a cost of Rs 9 crore.
Praising the Bicholim Municipal Council (BMC), the chief minister said the municipal council has given an impetus to development by setting up waste management, buildings and other infrastructure.
Speaker Rajesh Patnekar said the new market complex will be a source of income for vendors and shopkeepers, while it would benefit people as many government and semi-government offices would be set up in the premises.
BMC Chairperson Rajaram Gavkar said many projects had been completed during the last five years with the assistance of the State government, adding that the new market complex would make the municipality self-reliant.
BMC Deputy Chairperson Kundan Falari, Director of Municipal Administration Tariq Thomas, BMC Chief Officer Deepak Vaingankar, and other councillors were also present on the occasion.
