PANAJI: PP Padmanabh Shishya Sampradaya celebrated the first ever Vednipun convocation ceremony at Shree Kshetra Tapobhoomi, on May 19. A strong exemplary display of women empowerment was showcased at Tapobhoomi wherein the Vednipun women chanted the Veda mantras in unison, challenging the faulty mentality of some that Vedic knowledge is appropriate only for men. The day also commemorated the fourteenth Punyatithi of national saint PP Brahmanandacharya Swami Maharaj.

The Governor, Dr Mridula Sinha, Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar, MP Adv Narendra Sawaikar, Kumbharjua MLA Pandurangji Madkaikar, Vice Chancellor, Goa University Dr Satish Shetye, director of Higher Education Bhaskar Nayak, chairperson RVS group, Tamil Nadu, Kuppusami and others were present.

A total number of 260 Vednipun women completed the course and cleared the examination and received certificates.
