Assuring to take up all issues affecting tourist taxi owners, Deputy Speaker and Calangute MLA Michael Lobo on Saturday urged taxi-owners to make a written representation listing all their grievances which can be put forward before the authorities.
Lobo has also assured to arrange a meeting with the chief secretary, transport director and tourism director and a delegation of North and South Goa tourist taxi-owners to thrash out the issues facing the taxi owners.
As a follow-up meeting after the Calangute MLA brokered peace between government and the agitating taxi owners last month, around 60 tourist taxi owners met Lobo in his Calangute office on Saturday.
Besides the key issue of speed governors, the taxi owners also raised the issue of harassment at the hands of transport officials.
They raised the issue of border tax which according to them was very steep and eating into their profits.
The taxi owners were asked to seek legal advice whether it was worthwhile to file an intervention petition against speed governors in the Supreme Court.
The Calangute MLA also urged the tourist taxi-owners to meet their respective MLAs and seek their support on the issues they faced.
There was general unanimity among the tourist taxi-owners that among the 40 legislators in the Goa assembly, the Calangute MLA was the only one who was staunchly backing them.
