PONDA
The youth brigade supporting Bhartiya Bhasha Suraksha Manch (BBSM) on Wednesday evening staged a two-wheeler rally in Ponda and Shiroda constituencies, appealing to the people to join for a meeting scheduled at Shiroda on May 8 in large number.
BBSM will organise a public meeting at Shiroda Panchayat ‘mantap’ on May 8, at 4.30 pm to spread awareness on Medium of Instruction (MoI) issue. This will be the third meeting of BBSM followed by Mandrem and Sakhali.
Over 100 two-wheelers, with pillion riders, started the rally from Rajiv Gandhi Kala Mandir at Ponda and proceeded to Shiroda constituency.
Adv Hrudhaynath Shirodkar led the rally, which culminated into a corner meeting at Ponda.
Speaking on the occasion, Shirodkar appealed to the people to attend the meeting to know the importance of regional languages.
Speaking to The Goan, Shirodkar said it was very important that people know the facts of MoI issue. “We have not just carried out a rally, but have tried to convince the people over the issue,” he said.
Anil Naik, president of Ponda block of MGP, said he has joined the rally as lover of Marathi and he is hopeful that they will get justice.
