Vasco police arrested two persons in the wee hours of Thursday on charges of manhandling a cop on night patrol.
According to sources at the Vasco police station, PSI Mayur Sawant and Head Constable Jayesh Gaonkar were on night patrol when they found two persons, Amit Kamat (18) and Fahad Tinvale (25) sitting and drinking alcohol on the road at Mangor at about 1.30 am.
“When the police stopped to question them, both the youth became aggressive and started arguing with PSI and the HC. They further pushed the Head Constable under the influence of alcohol and broke beer bottle on their own head and made self-inflicted injuries on head and neck. The duo started claiming that they were assaulted by the police,” said the source.
“The police then took the two youth to the police station where they created a ruckus. Vasco police later registered offence and booked them for using criminal force against staff while discharging duties and placed them under arrest under Sections 353,504 read with 34 IPC and Section 34 (vi) of IP Act ," said the source
Head constable Suresh Dasar is carrying out further investigation under the supervision of PI Kapil Nayak and guidance of Mormugao DySP Salim Shaikh.
