A 51-year-old man from Agonda died in a road mishap in the village on Wednesday night.
According to police, Sanju Laxman Naikgaunkar was returning home on his scooter (GA-10-B-5396) when he was knocked down by an oncoming car (GA-07-T-0253) driven by tourists from Haryana at about 9.40 pm on Wednesday.
The mishap took place near Sanjay Bandekar's house at Panna.
Sanju suffered grievous injuries and was shifted to the Canacona Community Health Centre (CHC), but breathed his last while undergoing treatment.
Canacona police arrested Arjun Singh on charges of rash and negligent driving under Section 279, 304(A) IPC and PSI Swadesh Dessai is investigating the case under the supervision of PI Chandrakant Gawas.
The body was handed over to relatives after and autopsy and the final rites were performed at Agonda on Thursday.
