The State government on Thursday constituted a five-member Committee of Experts, headed by Retired Bombay High Court Judge in Goa Utkarsh Bakre to examine and verify the authenticity of notary and land registration records that are allegedly tampered with or forged.
The committee is expected to recommend actions to the government regarding the alleged tampered or forged records including those currently sealed and any that may be sealed in the future. It will advise the government on the safety and security of these records, and, if necessary, draft relevant rules for their protection.
The members of the committee include Portuguese law expert Advocate F E Noronha, a representative from the Forensic Science Laboratory at Verna and a Goa Police officer of at least the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police.
Deputy Director of the Department of Archives Blossom Medeira is the committee’s member secretary.
