ED raids premises of Serula Comunidade’s ex-attorney

PANAJI
The controversy ridden Serula Comunidade and its former attorney Agnelo Lobo have again come in conflict with the law on Saturday with the central agency, Enforcement Directorate (ED) searching his residence.

Some others connected with Lobo and holding posts in Serula Comunidade’s managing committee were also searched by the agency.

ED said, Lobo’s residence and homes of three others - - Reginald Lobo, Joseph D’Sa and Rajesh Verenkar (ex-clerk) - - were searched in their investigations into a massive land scam.

The scam involves Lobo and associates abusing their powers to allot large number of plots illegally in upmarket areas of the comunidade in Porvorim and adjoining locales.

The ED proceedings is sequel to an FIR booked by Goa Police’s Crime Branch which accuses the Lobo-led managing committee of Serula Comunidade of allotting parcels of land to various individuals by fraudulently citing fake file numbers of multiple Bardez Administrators of Comunidades and also official gazettes of the State government.

The ED meanwhile said its searches yielded “incriminating documents” related to the scam and case.

“Among the documents seized include several blank Indian stamp papers dated in the 1960s and blank sheets having Portuguese stamps, both sets used to fabricate sale deeds to illegally usurp land of the Serula Comunidade. Some old registers from the Bardez Administrator of Comunidades,” the ED said.
