IHCL, Goa continues to work towards sustainable future

In line with its commitment to making a positive impact with an integrated approach towards creating sustained growth, Indian Hotels Company (IHCL), Goa’s largest hospitality company, continues to make strides in strengthening its sustainable business practices. Guided by its framework of Paathya, IHCL has undertaken several initiatives including phasing out single-use plastic, reduction in carbon footprint, water conservation, utilisation of renewable sources of energy and extensive community engagement.
On Earth Day, IHCL, Goa marked the occasion with an achievement of EarthCheck Certification across most of its hotels in the state. Taj Exotica Resort & Spa in Benaulim; Taj Fort Aguada Resort & Spa in Sinquerim and Taj Holiday Village Resort & Spa in Candolim achieved the Platinum Certification representing 14 continuous years of social and environmental impact by ensuring sustainable tourism management practices.
Speaking on the initiative, Vincent Ramos, Area Director “ IHCL, Goa said, “At IHCL, Goa we constantly endeavor to grow responsibly and contribute towards preserving the environment in a meaningful way. Our sustainability goals are aligned with that of the changing world we live in. It is imperative that we focus on a new tomorrow - one that is more sustainable and inclusive. In its pursuit towards excellence and creating benchmark in the tourism industry, IHCL, Goa will continue to drive responsible tourism with sustainable practices.”
Additionally, various initiatives were organised at the hotels for staff and guests to raise awareness and bring to light environment-friendly alternatives for a greener future. Some of the activities included creative reuse of waste, sapling plantation, nature walk, informative session on benefits and misconceptions of adopting electric vehicles by Tata Motors and donating re-usable stainless steel tiffin containers to El Shaddai Charitable Trust in Candolim and Calangute.
