In an act of compassion, Chairman of the KLES Society, Dr Prabhakar Kore, along with the surgical team at KLES Hospital, performed a life-changing surgery on a two-year-old girl born with syndactyly ” a condition in which fingers and toes are joined together.
The surgery was conducted by the Head of the Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery department, Dr Rajesh Powar, and his team.
As per information from KLES Hospital, the child hailed from a low socio-economic background in a hamlet near Belagavi. The parents of the young girl approached Dr Kore for assistance. Moved by the family's predicament, Dr Kore arranged for the surgery to be performed free of charge after attempts to conduct the procedure under government schemes proved unsuccessful. The initial phase of the surgery, focusing on the fingers of the right hand, has been successfully completed.
The surgical process will proceed in stages, with the fingers of the left hand scheduled for release and repair in the next 6-8 weeks, followed by surgery on the toes.
"Timely surgical intervention by skilled plastic surgeons and compassionate care can make a significant difference in the lives of children facing physical challenges, regardless of their economic circumstances," Dr Kore emphasized.
