In a tragic accident, a 42-year-old man from Kutye Netravali died on the spot at Vate-Dabal in Netravali village after the two-wheeler he was riding is reported to have struck a wild animal at around 11 pm on Thursday.Sources informed that the incident took place as Dayanand Chandrakant Velip was returning home from work.
On reaching Vate-Dabal, the two-wheeler is reported to have struck a wild animal and Velip lost control of his two-wheeler and died on the spot.
Officials from Sangeum Police and the forest department visited the site of the accident on Friday morning and conducted the panchanama.
Velip is survived by his parents, wife and a nine-month child.
Since Netravali village comes within the jurisdiction of Netravali Wildlife Sanctuary, accidents involving wild animals have been on the rise.
Earlier this month, Frazer D’Costa, panchayat member from Molcornem Panchayat, had complained to the forest department about the increasing number of bison and other wild animals on the main village road early in the morning and late in the evening.
