Opposition Leader Yuri Alemao on Wednesday spoke of the seven-member strong Opposition benches in the Goa legislative assembly closing ranks to take on the government in the upcoming winter session slated to begin on January 16.
The seven Opposition MLAs will meet on Monday (December 26) to discuss the strategy on upcoming Goa Legislative Assembly Session and attempts by the government to suppress the voice of the Opposition and transform the proceedings into silent mode.
The Opposition leader further said the government should use Nylon 6,6, SEZ or Farmagudi land to set up the IIT and stop the real estate lobby from exploiting Zuari land and use the same for educational institute.
“Hum Saat Saath Hai, Rahenge”, thundered Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao on Wednesday as he pointed out that he has personally spoken to all six colleagues from the Opposition. “They have all agreed to meet and prepare a strategy to grill the Government. We seven will certainly make a difference," claimed Yuri.
Goa Forward party MLA Vijai Sardessai, Aam Admi Party MLAs Venzy Viegas and Cruz Silva and Revolutionary Goans Party MLA Viresh Borkar along with Congress MLAs Adv Carlos Alvares Ferreira and Altone D'Costa will attend the meeting, informed Yuri Alemao.
“It is loud and clear that the BJP Government is scared of the Opposition. I am shocked to see the notification issued by the Speaker restricting on seeking information from Legislative Assembly questions for just five years," Yuri said.
He added: “The government will not be in a position to silence the voice of the MLAs. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant should realise that 67 per cent Goans had voted against the BJP Government for its misrule in last ten years. In reality, the Opposition has the mandate of the people of Goa”.
Meanwhile, strongly reacting to the statement made by the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant that Government will identify new land for IIT Project, Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao tweeted "Government Land at Keri earlier allotted to Nylon 66 Project, Land allotted to 3 SEZ Projects, land at Farmagudi are available. How about land allotted to Zuari Agro? Stop real estate lobby from exploiting it. Take it back & use it for educational institute".
