Griha Laxmi, TMC's flagship scheme launched on December 11, has seen an overwhelming response among the people with more than 1 lakh families registering for the same in a span of just 12 days, the party stated in a press release.

Celebrating the milestone, TMC leaders Kiran Kandolkar, Swati Kerkar, Pratibha Borkar and advocate Seoula Vas addressed the media at the party office in Panaji and thanked Goans for their unprecedented support, stated TMC in the release.

Launched as a welfare initiative with universal coverage within the state, the scheme promises guaranteed income support of Rs 5,000 per month (Rs 60,000 annually) into the account of a woman member of every household, covering all of the 3.5 lakh families in Goa.

Thanking the people for their massive support, Swati Kerkar, who has been actively participating in door-to-door campaigns noted, "This scheme has got tremendous response from the public. When we go on a campaign trail, the response we get from women is a real-time testimony to the success of the scheme. Our registrations have crossed 1 lakh within just 12 days, and more women are coming forward to register, given the immense benefits."

Talking about the impact of the scheme, Pratibha Borkar said, "Women in Goa have hardly benefited from any BJP introduced schemes in the last 10 years. TMC has launched this scheme to empower and uplift women."

Legal activist Seoula Vas, who recently joined TMC, highlighted how the scheme was imperative to help revive Goa's dwindling business. She said, "We are trying to put money in the pockets of the women because they know the economy better than anyone. Schemes like these will increase the purchasing power of women, thereby furthering the economic prosperity of the family and the State and will help push up the GDP."
