As many as 60 suspected drug peddlers from Calangute and Anjuna have been rounded up in connection with the drug overdose of a Delhi tourist last weekend.

The Calangute police have so far failed to identify the drug peddler who sold cocaine pills while Sara Khan and her friend from Agra Dr Abhishek Singh partied on November 19 night.

"Around 50-60 suspected drug peddlers including those who were previously arrested in NDPS cases are rounded up till date. Dr Singh hasn't identified any of them but efforts are in to trace the supplier," police sources told The Goan. The investigation team is also relying on Khan's statement to get a further tip-off on the case.

On Friday, the police said, Khan, regained consciousness which is a major relief to her family and the police.

Meanwhile, the Calangute police will send her fluid samples for another test at Goa Medical College and Hospital, and the Forensic Science Laboratory at Verna to ascertain the observation made by a private laboratory about presence of drugs in Khan's body.

"We want to get a confirmation from the government-run institutions about the presence of drugs. Therefore, the samples collected for the private test will also be sent to GMCH and FSL," the official said adding that Dr Singh is also likely to undergo the analyses examination.

The State has recorded four drug overdose cases since August of which two have been fatal. In the present case, the tourists had arrived in Goa on a long weekend holiday.
