It is the first Assembly Constituency to declare its’ resultwhenever elections are held in the State legislature yet its’ MLA LaxmikanrParsekar isn’t happy. “We had to wait for ten long years for development tocome to Mandrem and now it will happen at a rapid pace” promised Parsekar.
Post -delimitation, three constituencies of Pernem Talukai.e. Pernem, Dhargalim and Mandrem were merged into two constituencies i.ePernem and Mandrem. Mandrem constituency had an additional 8000 voters bringing its voter count to 25928.
More known for its tryst with Goa’s second Airport at Mopa,there is more that the constituency needs. Roads, bridges and even industries “all denied to it thanks to Goa’s obsession with centralizing industrial areasand commerce to central Goa. “We are on course to take development to theremotest parts of the State and Mandrem will be the role model” says BJP’sformer State President.
Policing the beaches is a serious issue as villages ofArambol , Mandrem and Morjim are fast turning into bases of drug mafia. Thelocals more adapting themselves to easy money than real development. Areas ofconcern also are at Terekhol and Chopdem face threats to their environment fromthe sand mining mafia.
Mandrem looks at its leader to take it to number one statusin more than one way.
