As all Goa newspapers regretfully announced the passing away of Matheus Correia popularly known as Comedian Selvy of the Konkani stage, in their earlier edition some newspapers reported that Selvy had been admitted at the Goa Medical College (GMC) on July 14 and was under treatment. His death was not sudden like that of late Mario Menezes but was after 10 days of brief illness. He (Selvy) was not a common figure but he was a popular comedian who kept Goa's Konkani colours flying high in the Konkani speaking States and abroad. When a politician, MLA or Minister gets admitted at the Goa Medical College (GMC) messages are sent to the Dean of the Goa Medical College (GMC) to give him/her top priority medical attention. Did any Goan influential personality inquire about Selvy's health during his 10 days in Goa Medical College? He needed that help then, not outpouring of tributes after his death.
