It will not be wrong to call it as a insatiable greed for money as the main cause of extortion by the men in khaki. The Anti-Terrorist Squad has left the department red faced, with men in uniform failing to file an FIR against the cops involved but having them transferred to the police training school Valpoi. This will serve no purpose inspite of CCTV proof available and also being viral on media platforms and they have been earlier also transferred by the IPS officer Shobit Saxena as there were number of complaints of extortion against them. Once the IPS officer was transferred out of Goa, a senior police officer managed to get the transfer order cancelled and retained them in ATS. This I feel is happening in various police stations of Goa especially Old Goa police station and other beach area police stations in north and south Goa and needs to be investigated. It seems like top police officials are shielding the shameless cops and looks like a clear case of favouritism and nepotism despite CCTV evidence doing the rounds on social media platforms.
