Every month the Excise Department is supposed to check the consumption of every restaurant or to check the restrictions in serving liquor. There are many rules to follow, hence there are discripancies.
To overlook such discripancies a hafta is charged from restaurants every month.
This does not happen only in Goa. It’s worse in Mumbai. The collections are huge and it goes right up to the top. Something needs to be done to stop this corruption. If restaurants are at fault for the wrongdoing then take the necessary action. Corruption is a way of life for some officials, not just in Goa but all over India.
