Treat drunken driving on par with murder

Goa is a known as a tourist destination all over the world and we need good tourists for boosting the economy of the state but absolutely no to tourists who come for drugs, alcoholism and prostitution. In the 1990s, the tourists came for the scenic beauty and beaches and they used to to drink but in moderation. This brings to mind the tragic deaths of  Remediana Albuquerque in Vagator and the two incidents of Chicalim and Ribandar were Reema Gonsalves and Kaushal Bandodkar lost their lives. Hence it looks like no concrete measures are being implemented by the government and the law enforcing agencies. A strict law is the need of the hour with either cancellation of licence for life whether it is drunken driving, drug addicts or minor drivers and imprisonment for two months and  the police should do a thorough check of vehicles across the Goan beach belt with alcometers. After the death of Albuquerque due to drunken driving surely there needs to be a new law in place to treat drunken driving on par with murder as lenient law will go on snuffing a Goan life almost everyday.
