The main road in Santa Cruz from the main church past the old Dempo residence right up to the Green Valley restaurant is like a war zone having been dug up for the laying of underground electrical cables.
This patchwork done resulted in makeshift rumblers which slowed down traffic on the road which was a good thing since it helped safety. But now with the dry season and almost a month having passed the earth filled trenches have become ditches since the roads sees heavy traffic particularly early morning at school times with many buses going to the Cujira school zone and the earth has become dust that gets blown away.
This damaged surface and the ditches have now become dangerous not only for people using the road with accidents waiting to happen but also for vehicles which get damaged while moving on the road. One cannot understand why the authorities cannot restore the road surface in stretches where they have finished laying the underground electrical cables so that commuters are not overly stressed.
The authorities cannot take the people for granted and let matters lie like that until the entire laying of the cable is over which may take close to a year.
