If we consider the two examples of the Shivaji Maharaj statue in Calangute and the Madrassa problem in Rumdamoll Panchayat, we might conclude that Goa’s future is in grave danger. Goa’s tranquil image was once exceedingly clean; today it has gone to the dogs. Some divisive elements are hell-bent on ruining Goa’s calm and inciting violence in the name of religion.
When a panchayat body passes a resolution declaring something illegal, no one has the right to attack the Panchayat or a Sarpanch. Why did the police help these forces in their attack on the Panchayat? When they take the law into their own hands? This demonstrates that higher-up officials are involved.
The tranquil Goa is being destroyed day by day by communal forces, but no one has the courage to rid the state of narcotics, prostitution, casinos, dance bars, and so on. Our CM is perceived and more engaged in to finish the Portuguese culture. And no MLAs from the ruling coalition have said anything, because of their portfolios, they are playing deaf and dumb.
