Recently, I overheard a conversation. First guy, “The honourable CM has stated that even God cannot provide government jobs to all in Goa.” Second guy, “Perhaps God could apply for a job now that the CM has said that eight to ten thousand posts would be advertised by January. And once God gets a job he can appoint his own people.” They alighted murmuring that the entrance exams are tough.
Job vacancies are advertised but many a times these are cancelled on various grounds such as reservations considered/not considered, someone files a flimsy case and gets a stay order etc.
The government need to take a firm stand on such issues and go-ahead with creating jobs but prior to that they need to weed out the inefficient employees, stop extension of retired persons, not appoint consultants when experts already exist and other measures.
Governments already have a database of the number of employees who would be retiring. Hence, it could advertise those posts at least a year in advance.
But these are never followed and the governments end up by appointing contract workers or extending the tenure of retiring employees. Can such persons really do justice to their job when handling one workplace is itself difficult?
Considering the above circumstances, no doubt the CM was right that even God cannot provide government jobs to all.
