It is learnt that the Tourism Development Corporation’s (GTDC) newly built helipad will soon see choppers take off as soon as footfalls increase with the slowing down of the pandemic.
It must be said that the chopper joyrides are meant for the high-end tourists who form a small part of the tourist arrival in the state. A major part of the tourists include local tourists belonging to the middle income group.
These tourists should have more options besides visiting the Goan beaches. In this context it is learnt that a vessel designed from scratch by Goans using local innovativeness will now allow families to sail in the backwaters of Goa.
The boat will ply from Old Goa jetty. There could be several Goans who have not explored the backwaters and viewed some of the most fascinating views of nature that Goa has to offer.
The backwaters can be explored by hiring a boat for one or several days. Enterprising Goans need to build boats meant for sailing in the backwaters. The government needs to give financial assistance for these innovators.
