S Sen's movie "The Kerala story' has provoked sentiments towards some sections of the society big time. Many vested interests have raked up divisive feelings to whip up religious feelings in a polarized world cashing in on political gains during rallies, conferences and seminars around the world. A flawed perspective with erroneous data cannot be made to be used to enforce one's own narrative to the vulnerable public. The censor board should have thoroughly examined and dissected the film before giving the green signal for its release.
Kerala is in the forefront of progressive indexes of NITi Aayog's criteria in parameters like high education, happiness index, equitable growth, social harmony, health, sustainable development ,high GDP etc. In this context why produce a film depicting women and girls in poor light . Portrayal of the film through 'Love jihadi' narrative where in an alleged number of 32,000 girls have clandestinely deserted their homes to be recruited by scandalous organisations is debatable, because the numbers are much lower and questionable. Love jihad is a perceivable evil and tool to lure innocent girls into marriage for foul play of these organisations & machinations for ulterior motives, in their quest for dominance. More research should have been made before embarking into producing this controversial film which will definitely create geo political fissures in the unity of the federal structure of a democratic nation. Most of the data portraying the fairer sex in the film 'The Kerala story' needed a thorough research on certain scenes which had to be scrapped before unleashing it in the final release to the world. Hoping sober and higher ideals captivate the ethos in the world of cinema which will serve as a beacon of hope for posterity.
