I am a tourist from Mumbai. I arrived at Madgaon on June 19 by the train no 11099 LTT Madgaon Express. At Madgaon, the train halted at a new platform, which is almost 100 metres away from the main entrance. The platform is not fully paved and it does not have an overbridge connection. Passengers, young and old, have to walk all the distance of train length (We were in AC 2 tier coach, which was third last.) dragging luggage on the ill-paved surface, then cross the rails, again climb the ramp, and only then come to the station entrance to take taxis, etc.
This inconvenience puts a severe strain on senior citizens, asthma patients, or passengers with health issues. The railways should not use these platforms till they are ready with amenities. For a start, at least a lift or escalator with connection to the over bridge is sorely needed. Else, this serves to dampen a good Goa holiday at the outset itself.
