The Supreme Court verdict dismissing the public interest litigation (PIL) filed by BJP leader Ashwini Kumar Upadhyay seeking renaming of cities/historical places across the country must have come like a tight slap on some of our very own frenzied activists who were pressing in vain for renaming some villages/cities in Goa.
Well, we are currently faced with so many serious problems i.e. corruption, unemployment, inflation etc in the State but it's a shame to see these self-styled activists fighting to rename villages/cities to take us Goans backwards and desperately trying to disturb the centuries old communal harmony in today's 21st century in Goa.
Hey, will Goa turn into a heaven after renaming a few selective places in the state today? Will our elected politicians change their wicked ways after this particular exercise and stop the ongoing open destruction of Goa to defend the unique identity of this state in future? I really doubt.
I therefore think that these sick activists should henceforth make serious efforts to raise their voice against some real issues like Mhadei, casinos, drugs, prostitution, easy availability of unlimited booze,etc instead of wasting their most precious time on fighting to rename our villages/cities at the behest of their own most divisive political bosses and trying to divide Goans on religious lines.
