Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho, in my view, is one of the most incompetent ministers in the current Goa Cabinet, as far as good governance is concerned. His strength, however, appears to lie in vote bank manipulation, which benefits the BJP in 1-3 constituencies. Such is the state of affairs in Goa, where governance is not a criterion to be in the Goa ministry.
Hence, it’s no surprise that the accident death rate in Goa is the highest in the country, yet the Transport Minister seems unperturbed. He is not taking the initiative to launch a policy, campaign, or better governance to address this emergency in Goa but is busy passing the buck to the PWD department (instead, he should have openly passed the buck to Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, who handles the PWD portfolio).
We should demand that if the Transport Minister can’t deliver, then the Goa CM should be forced to drop him from the ministry. Too many lives are being lost due to road fatalities.
