Mhadei or commonly known as Mandovi river is an age old dispute regarding sharing/diversion of this particularly important lifeline ended with fractious and contentious verdict. Too many governments presided over this delicate issue only to give away valuable spoils to our southern neighbour. The local ruling party should have been more proactive by fighting it tooth and nail without conceding and raising their hands in air, portraying a defeated look.
Well, nothing is lost, this complicated issue, has to be challenged in the courts of law in earnest without looking back. The present politicians are just sitting ducks without any effective say in central politics. With coming Karnataka elections its anyone’s guess which way the tide would flow in an attempt to appease and woo the electorate. By doing so it gives a decisive mandate to the ruling dispensation of that state by this order of favouring one over the other.
The local people should all come out with one voice and get this ruling overturned and demand justice to this long standing contentious issue. The local ruling party is sitting pretty without even scratching the surface to rake up and corner the centre on this matter. This issue is very crucial and should be dealt stringently in all forums earnestly and dedication.
