Ensure Goa's water security is never compromised

The Tillari Project, a crucial inter-state initiative with Maharashtra, supplies essential raw water to North Goa, supporting drinking water and irrigation needs. This water is a lifeline for Goans. Now, Karnataka is pushing to divert surplus water from the Tillari reservoir to its Rakaskop reservoir via the Markandeya River to address Belagavi’s water shortages. While their citizens deserve water, this move disregards the rights and needs of Goans who depend on Tillari water for survival. Karnataka’s attitude appears self-centered, ignoring the welfare of neighbouring states and even their own citizens working in Goa. This is more than a water dispute—it’s about respect, fairness, and the future of our state. Goa deserves protection from such harassment. It is time for strong political will and inter-state dialogue to ensure our water security is never compromised.

While the Opposition parties may be having reservations with regards to forming a joint coalition this scheme should be acceptable to all parties.
