PANAJI
The team of Swapnil, Malaika, Manav, Nilesh and Siddhesh emerged as the victorious team at the badminton tournament organised by Friend Circle Saligao at the Government School premises badminton court.
The winners faced stiff resistance in the finals from the team of Siraj, Bunty Aniket, Savio and Rifa. In the finals, the winners earned 45 points against the 34 by the runners up team. The tournament was sponsored by proprietor of Star Events Pradeep alias Dipi Sawant in the memory of his father Madhusudan Sawant.
In all a total of 40 shuttlers participated in the tournament, in the form of 8 teams comprising of 5 players each, with four men and one woman. The teams clashed in the league round and entertained the late night crowd.
The founder president of Adarsh Yuvak Sangh Pradeep Padgaonkar and the vice-president of Adarsh Yuvak Sangh Krishna Mhaloji were the guests for the finals and gave away the prizes. The winners were awarded with a trophy and cash prize of Rs 10,000 while runners up had to be content with the trophy and cash prize of Rs 8,000.
