Pankaj Naik advanced to the next round of the men’s singles category in the ongoing BPS All-Goa State Ranking Tennis Tournament at Margao on Tuesday.
Naik overcame Rajesh Bundela (6-0), while Anurag Agrawal defeated Sandesh Satardekar (6-1) and Nehal Shaikh beat Anup Sardesai (6-2) in the men’s singles event.
In the boys under-14 category, Darsh Pai and Taroun Salgaonkar had easy outings against their rivals Arion Rodrigues and Ashton Mario Lobo respectively, winning their matches without allowing the opponent to win a single game.
Sairaj Narvenkar and Ethan Luis de Ataide overcame a spirited fight against their opponents Alec Cris Barreto and Avanish Nitin Pillankar to win their respective matches (6-4), even as
Shashwat Mathiyan defeated Devaansh P Naik (6-1) in the same category.
In the girls under-14 event, Tvisha Sardesai beat Ahana Kumar (6-1), while Avni Lotlikar took her match against Bhaavya Bhoomkar to the wire, matching her opponent game by game, before eventually losing to the latter in a tiebreaker.
