Calangute Association downed Churchill Brothers FC 2-0 in the GFA's Professional League, at Nagoa Panchayat Sports Complex, on Friday.

There was no score at lemon break. The first half witnessed a shift in momentum, with both teams battling fiercely. The match evolved into a see-saw battle with both teams pressing for a winner.

The game started with Calangute Association dictating the pace of the game and it didn’t take long for them to get on the scoreboard. In the 47th minute, midfielder Dalvin Coelho scored a brilliant goal, thanks to a superb move with passes that saw him finish in style. The goal gave Calangute Association the confidence boost they needed as they continued to attack the Churchill defense.

The Churchill forwards had couple of scoring chances but they muffed gilt edged chances. The game showcased Calangute Association's dominance on the field as they outplayed their opponents with their sharp passing, great attacking prowess and solid defending. The issue was put beyond doubt when substitute midfielder Kirtikesh Gadekar bulged the net in the 78th minute.

Meanwhile at Ella ground, Dempo SC and FC Goa played out a goalless draw in a match which saw both teams being reduced to 10 players. Sairon Albuerqueque received marching orders for Dempo SC in the first half while Leewan Castanha was sent off for FC Goa late in the game.

Elsewhere at SAG ground, Dramapur, Compassion FC eased past Vintage 73 Sports Club 2-1 in the 7th GFA Vedanta Women's league. The high light of the day was brace by Pearl Fernandes. Compassion FC took the early lead in the 18th minute when Pearl Fernandes slotted past the rival goalkeeper with a snap shot off Fatima Braganza's pass. At the other end, Vintage 73 tried to get back in the game but Compassion FC rear guard were alert in frustrating the attacks. In the second half, Pearl Fernandes added one more goal in the 62nd minute while defender Stessi Cardozo reduced the margin in injury time.

In the GFA's Salcete Zone Second Division League, at Don Bosco Oratory ground, Fatorda, St Anthony's Sports Club got the better of Guirdolim Club 4-2. Guirdolim Club held upper hand in the first 20 minutes and took the lead in the 30th minute when Jilto Tavares punted the ball to the far corner of the net Lawreen Fernandes doubled the lead in the 41st minute. Down by 0-2 , St Anthony's upped the ante and reduced the margin in the first injury time through Handllee Carvalho. The second half belonged to St Anthony's who carried out well orchestrated raids and fired well sorties and in the Valento Fernandes equalised for Assolda team in the 50th minute. A minute later, Jaison Dias regained the lead. In the 67th minute, Reagan Fernandes fired the final goal in the 67th minute.
