Cia and Josley Dias (Calata Warriors) defeated Xerino and Stacy Rodrigues (The Fire Ball) in the mixed double badminton tournament organised by Young Boys of Pacheco Vaddo Majorda and being played on flood light.
In all 18 mixed double pairs took part in the tournament. In the finals, Josley and Cia played well to defeat Xerino and Stacy 23-22, 23-22, at the same time Stacy and Xerino gave tough time to their opponents with well taken shots and baseline safe, but their efforts could not yield much desired results and had to be contended with the runners up prize.
The Chief Guest for the finals was Rev Fr William D’Souza, Assistant Parish Priest, Majorda Church, while Xavier Pereira was the Guest of Honour and distributed the cash prize of Rs 5,000 and Rs 3,000 plus trophies to the winners and runners up respectively.
Earlier, president Roygen Pereira welcomed the gathering while Secretary Valent Pereira proposed the vote of thanks.
