IamConnected, a social movement that works amongst urban teens and youth, and Little Lights Foundation will organise an inter-collegiate futsal tournament at Play Goa, Caculo Mall on December 10.
The tournament is a fundraiser for a non-profit learning centre for underprivileged children in Merces called ‘Little Lights’. Prizes will be awarded to the best goalkeeper, best player and best defender.
“Our goal for the children in Little Lights Learning Centre is to help and support children from the slums of Goa so that they can complete school until 10th standard. We provide life skills that will help them become productive citizens of our country,” said Stevens Dumpala, founder of IamConnected and Little Lights Foundation.
Explaining the purpose of the inter-collegiate futsal tournament, IamConnected coordinator Oshea Fernandes said: “Being a college student comes with its exciting take on adventure and young adulthood but also with an extraordinary amount of pressure and stress, leaving most youth today feeling hopeless and isolated.”
“Through this tournament, IamConnected encourages students to connect and reach out to each other amidst their personal challenges. Their mission? It’s to help youth say “No More Alone”. This football season, let’s be a sport to bridge isolation, form deeper and more meaningful connections and persevere in the journey of continuous self-improvement.”
The chief guests include Little Lights' very own students, while Prasad Paul from Synergy Hospitality Ltd. will distribute the prizes and trophies to the winning teams.
