Don Bosco College, Panjim emerged victorious against the defending champions Rosary College of Commerce & Arts, Navelim, 2-0 to clinch the championship trophy of the Goa University inter-collegiate women’s football championship, at the University Ground, Taleigao Plateau.
The first half was a balanced contest, with both teams showcasing strong attacks and defenses, resulting in a 0-0 stalemate. Don Bosco College displayed effective short-passing strategies, maintaining possession in the opponent's half, but struggled to convert their chances into goals.
As the second half began, both teams maintained their intensity in search of the opening goal. In the 70th minute, Don Bosco broke the deadlock when Flani Costa’s shot slipped through the goalkeeper’s hands and into the net. Rosary College fought hard to equalize and contain further scoring, but in the 84th minute, Blessica Rodrigues found the net again after her shot deflected off a defender.
The Best Player of the Championship award went to Swellen Fernandes of Rosary College.
The valedictory ceremony was graced by Chief Guest Milton Fernandes, former Assistant Director of Physical Education and Sports at Goa University, along with Guest of Honor Dr. Francis Lobo, College Director of Physical Education and Sports at Rosary College. They were joined by other dignitaries, including Synora Picardo from Carmel College, Ryan Pereira from Don Bosco College, football coach Jeromica Culaso, and Balachandra B. Jadar, Assistant Director of Physical Education and Sports at Goa University.
