The first phase of the I-League 3, held from September 3 to 11, has been nothing short of spectacular for Sesa Football Academy (SFA). With dramatic come-from-behind draws, injury-time goals, and decisive wins, SFA has topped Pool B in their very first attempt, securing a spot in the playoffs at Naihati Stadium, Kolkata, from September 26 onwards.
Each match has showcased SFA's developmental journey over the past year. Their performance in the Goa Pro League, coupled with their strong showing in I-League 3, reflects a mature system that maximizes player potential. In their opening match against Maharashtra Oranje FC, SFA not only took an early lead but also displayed resilience, equalizing with a stunning injury-time free-kick after falling behind.
Coach Charles Dias emphasized the importance of situational awareness and tactical adjustments, praising the newcomers for their integration into the team. Key additions like Clive Miranda and Russel Vaz, along with dynamic strikers Savlon Fernandes and Shlok Tiwari, have bolstered SFA's competitiveness.
As the playoffs approach, the synergy among players will be crucial. With a focus on teamwork and strategy, Sesa Football Academy aims to make a significant impact, aligning with their #LETSFOOTBALLFORINDIA initiative to elevate Goan and Indian football. The anticipation is high as they prepare to prove their mettle in Kolkata.
