MARGAO: Fr. Agnelo Youth Sports Club Paroda triumphed over Raia Sporting Club with a thrilling 6-4 victory, securing their spot in the quarter-finals of the 32nd Curtorim Panchayat Cup organized by Curtorim Gymkhana.
The match got off to an exciting start, with both teams displaying impressive football. Paroda took the lead in the 10th minute when Melson's powerful shot deflected off a Raia defender and found the net. They doubled their advantage shortly after, as Joy Fernandes capitalized on being unmarked to tap the ball in. Just before halftime, Paroda made it 3-0 when Dranzil unleashed a long-range ground shot that caught the Raia goalkeeper off guard.
The second half saw even more goals as Paroda netted their fourth through Salvin Fernandes. They quickly followed up with a fifth goal from Melson, extending their lead to 5-0. However, Raia responded with a fierce attack; striker Oilex Oliveira scored two quick goals within two minutes, narrowing the score to 5-2.
Paroda struck back with Joy Fernandes registering his brace, making it 6-2. Raia continued their offensive efforts, with Silvano and Rio scoring two more goals in quick succession, bringing the final score to 6-4.
James Dcosta (Jimmy), a Panch Member of the Village Panchayat Curtorim, presented the Man of the Match award to Joy Fernandes of Fr. Agnelo Youth Sports Club Paroda.
