Nuvem SC move into quarterfinals

Nuvem SC beat Ambelim SC 5-3 via the tiebreaker and moved into the quarterfinals of the Rising Cup 2022 football tournament organised by Rising Club of Sanvorcotto Cuncolim at Cuncolim ground, on Thursday.

Asfin Pinto missed a chance to score for Ambelim in the 64th minute. Then, Arvin Fernandes missed a chance to score for Nuvem in the 70th minute. In the tiebreaker, Nuvem proved to be the better shooters. The Man of the match award was presented to Shubert Borges of Nuvem SC.

Joe Cookies Veterans advance
Joe Cookies Veterans registered a superb win over Chincinim Veterans by defeating them 4-0 and moved into the quaterfinals of the Batora United Veterans football tournament organised by Batora United Veterans Curtorim at St Alex Church ground, Curtorim on Thursday.

The first goal for Joe Cookies was scored by Remy in the 10th minute before Jaison netted the second in the 30th minute. A penalty taken by Angelo made it 3-0 for Joe Cookies in the 42nd minute. In the second half, Seby scored the 4th goal for Joe Cookies Veterans with a clinical finish in the 60th minute.

Sao Jose de Areal reach semis
Sao Jose de Areal beat Navelim Villagers Union 5-4 via the tiebreaker to move into the semifinals of 18th Uguem Rising Club Football Cup 2022 at Uguem ground on Thursday.

Sao Jose de Areal opened the scoreline through Velington Dias in the 10th minute. In the second half, Navelim equalised through Clinton Niasso in the 65th minute. In the tiebreaker, Sao Jose de Areal proved to be the better shooters. Sao Jose de Areal will meet Rossman Cruz Nagoa Verna in the semifinals.

BPS State badminton ranking results
Karan Dhavaskar, Ayaan Shaikh, Anish Kamath and Umakant Sarge stormed into the Men’s singles semifinals of the State Badminton Ranking Tournament organised by BPS Sports Club at Manohar Parrikar Indoor stadium, Navelim.

Anjana Kumari, Pratishtha Shenoy, Aarohi Coutoncar and Janhavi Mahale are the four semifinalists in the Women’s singles category. In U-19 Boys singles semifinals, Anish Kamath, Nishant Shenai, Anuj Vernekar and Devesh Goel have sealed their spots. In the U-11 Boys singles category, Ateendra Gaonkar, Vishwa Parab, Michael Mare, Aaryan Karpe, Devarsh Kotkar, Neil Punjani Bakshi, Mohammad Umar and Vedh Lotlikar have moved into the last eight. In Girls singles U-11, Avni Khyalia, Asbah Tahsildar, Fiona Mare, Niharika Parwar, Pragya Audi, Amaira Dhumatker, Astha Poudel and Palak Ramnathkar complete the quarterfinals line-up.
