The bid to get the capital city to be smarter is proving an extremely cumbersome expedition for the Imagine Panjim Smart City Development Limited (IPSCDL).
At various locations, the contractors working on the project to reinforce the existing sewerage network, have encountered hurdles with excavations puncturing the live pipelines and sewage as a result oozing out in the open putting local residents in peril.Revenue Minister Atanasio Monserrate, who represents the constituency and his son Rohit who is the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) mayor, have also retreated from the Smart City battle front. Other elected representatives too have gone incognito and residents are left on their own to endure the mess.
First dust pollution, then the traffic chaos and now sewage flowing all over. It's gonna a be a long, hard summer.
