It may be recalled that Malvankar was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau while he was allegedly taking bribe from the promoter of a Jaipur-based firm to facilitate allotment of a plot of land for an Ayurvedic medicine production project, about 45 kms from Panaji.
AAP Goa convenor Rajashree Nagarsekar told Bardez Mamlatdar Madhu Narvekar and Deputy Superintendent of Police Nelson Albuquerque that AAP members from all the 40 constituencies in Goa have come to submit a memorandum to the chief minister bearing signatures of 20,000 people demanding action against
Malvankar.
“Chief Minister Parsekar meets the people every Tuesday to hear their grievances. Hence, they have come here to meet him and submit the memorandum,” said the AAP member.
Mamlatdar Narvekar said he cannot allow all AAP members to enter the Assembly complex. “Since the chief minister is not in the office, only 10 members can go and meet the Chief Secretary, if they so desire, and hand over the memorandum to him,” said the Mamlatdar.
Later, 10 AAP members led by Valmiki Naik met the Chief Secretary and submitted the memorandum to him, demanding action against
Malvankar.
Speaking to media persons, AAP Goa convenor Rajashree Nagarsekar said though Dilip Malvankar was caught red-handed by the Anti-Corruption Bureau while accepting bribe, but no action has been taken against him.
“He was suspended for name sake, but was reinstated. During the last election, BJP had announced that they would deal sternly with corrupt people,” said Nagarsekar.
“The chief minister always says law is equal for all. Many government officials including police are still under suspension and they have not been reinstated yet. Why this special treatment for the chief minister’s brother-in-law? They should lead by example,” stated Nagarsekar.
