Curtorim MLA Reginaldo Lourenco has threatened to stop work on the laying of the JICA water pipeline to Borim and Shiroda if the PWD fails to immediately repair the broken water pipeline supplying water to Carmulim village.
Residents of Camurlim along with the MLA gheraoed Executive Engineer, Water supply Sanjay Walwaikar on Wednesday to protest against the frequent breakdown of water pipeline to the village.
After the meeting with the Executive Engineer, the Curtorim MLA threatened to stop ongoing work on the laying of the JICA water pipeline, supplying water from the Selaulim project to Borim and Shiroda. "If the government does not have the wherewithal to repair broken pipeline in Camurlim we will stop work on the JICA line," Reginaldo said.
Local activist Romao Jesus told the media that people of Camurlim are indeed facing a host of difficulties in getting uninterrupted supply of water. He lamented that the PWD has no spares with them even to repair the pipeline.
Camurlim Panch member Lourdina Sequeira and Ashwin Kumar Naik said that the people of Camulim are facing shortage due to the frequent breakdown of the water pipeline, while demanding action from the government.
