MARGAO
Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Nuvem candidate Mickky Pacheco on Friday demanded to know why Congress Goa desk in-charge, Dinesh Gundu Rao has till date not unveiled the Congress party’s chief ministerial candidate in the ensuing polls.
Addressing the media, Mickky pointed out that the Congress ought to have come out with the name of the party's chief ministerial candidate to ensure better clarity, saying the suspense over the CM’s candidate has only cast doubts amongst the people.
“The NCP is in alliance in the neighbouring State of Maharashtra. If the NCP wins a couple of seats in the ensuing polls, our party will have to support Congress in forming the government. It would have been better if the Congress announce the party’s chief ministerial candidate so that an unpopular leader and leader with corruption charges is not foisted as the CM candidate after the election”, Mickky said.
He added: “Dinesh Gundu Rao is not telling who the chief ministerial candidate of Congress is. He only says the people of Goa know by now who will be the party’s CM candidate. By saying so, he is only fueling doubts and speculations in the minds of the people”.
Saying the NCP will remain with the secular parties to form the new government in Goa, Mickky, however, said the Congress should not promote a leader who has no face value.
Saying his campaign has evoked tremendous response from the people of Nuvem constituency, Mickky exuded confidence that the people of Nuvem will teach a lesson for the candidates for defection.
