Cops seek closure in dance party case

PANAJI: Panaji Town Police has sought permission from Goa Children's Court to close the 2013 case registered against Samajwadi Party MLA from Uttar Pradesh Mahendra Kumar (55) and five others citing lack of evidence under the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act.

Singh is four time MLA from Sevata in Sitapur district of Uttar Pradesh.

Singh along with five others was arrested by Panaji Police in August 2013 after a raid on a dance party at Campal, Panaji while rescuing six girls. All five were subsequently released on bail.

In his defence, Singh was quick in denying his involvement in the offence stating that he had entered the venue only some time before the raid.
