MMC jeep rams into bus
CORTALIM: A Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) double cabin pickup jeep collided with a stationary tourist bus at Goa Velha on Friday evening. While there were no injuries, both the vehicle bonnets were damaged.
According to the jeep's driver Subhash Nazrekar who was proceeding along with his colleague from Panaji to Vasco, the incident occurred after two motorcycles suddenly came in the middle of the road, forcing him to swerve which caused the mishap.
Asked as to why they were proceeding along the old route instead the Goa-Velha-Agassaim by-pass, Nazrekar said they were returning from Porvorim after completing their work at the Secretariat. “We took this route since we wanted to have refreshments at Pilar,” Nazrekar told The Goan.
However, according to a Agassaim Police Constable, he suspected that the driver must have been distracted or fallen asleep which could have been the cause of the accident.
Head Constable Prashant Naik is investigating the case.
