: The inaugural session of the new formative year 2016-2017 of the Patriarchal Seminary of Rachol was held recently.
During the homily at the Mass, Archbishop Filipe Neri Ferrão while elaborating the pastoral theme of the year 'Inspired by Venerable Fr. Agnelo, let us witness to the mercy of God', as well as the theme of formative year 'Mercy: Experience, Live, witness!' said that Fr Agnelo, who was the Spiritual Director at the Seminary for almost 10 years, was a true model of mercy.
Seven seminarians received their Rite of Admission for the Holy Orders of Diaconate and Presbyterate; and ten seminarians wore the cassock for the first time.
The Rector of the seminary Rev Dr Aleixo Menezes in his welcome address also gave a brief resume of the life at the seminary. There are altogether 89 seminarians doing their philosophy-regency-theology course.
Rev Dr Nelson Sequeira delivered the inaugural lecture, and highlighted the need of integrating justice with mercy. The seminary orchestra played Rondo Alla Turca and the Santa Cecilia Choir sang Jubilate of W.A. Mozart under the baton of Simon D’Cunha.
