Claiming to have spoken to Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar a few days ago for his advice at a GST meeting, Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho on Saturday said the Congress should take care of their own MLAs who may drift during upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
He was speaking to reporters along the sidelines of a function to launch roadworks in Chicolna Bogmalo Panchayat area from JNC Viera Nagar. “The opposition is spreading rumours that development has stopped while the chief minister is out of the country for treatment.”
“However, all files are being cleared as the chief minister has already delegated powers and we ministers have the power to clear files upto Rs 2 crore, while the 3-member CAC has the right to clear files of up to Rs 10 crore. The chief minister is monitoring the situation on a day-to-day basis,” said Godinho. “I request the Congress to take care of their own MLAs who may drift during upcoming Lok Sabha elections. We are very stable and maximum works are taking place,” said Godinho.
“Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar is undergoing treatment and is responding well to his treatment. Two days ago when I had gone to attend a GST meeting, I had to consult him and Parrikar himself called me and I spoke to him.”
“From his conversation, I could affirm that he is very strong and is recovering well. He will return to Goa very soon and will take over the reins more stronger than before,” he added. Commenting on the roadworks, Godinho said the panchayat would spend Rs 25 lakh for the roadworks, while the overall estimate for the project was around Rs 40 lakh.
“This is only the first phase and I have directed further estimates so that all remote areas can also have tar roads. After PWD estimates are cleared, we will further provide full-fledged tarred roads.”
“Sometimes, things like water supply get delayed because estimates are in crores. I am constantly following this up and I want to beautify Bogmalo village,” said Godinho.
Godinho requested Bogmalo Panchayat to pass a resolution to develop an open space in JNC Viera Nagar. “We have the money but local bodies are not sending proposals. We have developed the roads and we plan to improve water supply and electricity to this area,” said Godinho.
