At least five illegal kiosks were reportedly stationed in land belonging to Serula Comunidade by the side of the road some time back.
“Recently, a sixth kiosk has been erected near and about the same area,” a member informed. Locals requested the panchayat to write to the Bardez BDO and demolish all the illegal kiosks from the area.
Sarpanch Sandeep Salgaonkar assured to verify documents in possession of the kiosks owners and accordingly take action. The locals fear that the main road from Aldona to Panaji at Salvador-do-Mundo may get washed off due to breaching of sluice gate at Char Manas.
“There’s every possibility of the road getting washed off during the high tide,” a Gram Sabha member highlighted and urged the panchayat to immediately take steps to repair the sluice gate. Besides the fear of the road getting washed off, the fields have also been inundated with salt water. The panchayat has said it will write to the authorities concerned to repair the sluice gate on top priority.
“We will write to the Water Resources Department to take steps to immediately repair the sluice gate,” the sarpanch said. The issue of private forests also came up for discussion.
Meenakshi Martins suggested cleaning and clearing all roads and ancient pathways on the hills in the forest land.
The Gram Sabha also approved the 2016-17 budget of the panchayat. While approving the budget, the Gram Sabha also decided to hike the salary of the electrical helper and sweeper from Rs 5000 to Rs 10,000 per month.
The panchayat has decided to collect plastic waste from the village but found difficulty to locate a spot for dumping of the plastic garbage.
The Gram Sabha suggested building an enclosure at the sports complex to dump the plastic waste.
