Karnataka’s Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister HK Patil has strongly condemned the stand of Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) in deferring the clearance to the Mhadei Water Diversion project.
Addressing media persons late Sunday evening, Patil accused the Modi government of being biased with the people of Karnataka.
“The Karnataka government is eagerly waiting for clearance from the MoEFCC in order to restart the work on the Kalsa-Bhandura water diversion project following the order by Mhadei Water Disputes Tribunal. By deferring the clearance to the project, Modi government and BJP has lost moral right to seek votes of the people of Karnataka”, Patil said.
He also accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of making false claims on resolving the controversial interstate dispute with Goa.
“The Prime Minister is lying and misleading the people of Karnataka regarding the Mhadei issue,” he stated.
Patil also criticised former CM BS Yediyurappa and union minister Pralhad Joshi for misleading the public.
He alleged that Yediyurappa presented a false unsigned NOC letter from the Goa government went a step ahead and had tweeted about resolving the long-standing issue.
“Taking credit for the same he had also distributed sweets to the BJP party workers,” HK Patil said raising doubts as to why the Centre has not observed unwarranted delay in implementing the project.
Speaking further, Patil said the Modi government has kept people of Karnataka guessing by not publishing the gazetteer on the Upper Krishna project for the past 10 years.
