MARGAO
Top BJP leadership seems to have adopted a wait and watch approach over the question of elections for the Margao civic body.
So far, only senior BJP-backed councillor Sadanand Naik has announced his candidature for the top post if the party decides to field a candidate. He had announced his candidature to foil any attempts by the party leadership to support the Kamat-backed candidate for the post. In fact, Sadanand has announced that he would make a bid for the party nomination for the election even in the event Kamat joins the ruling party going by the speculations.
When contacted, BJP general secretary Damu Naik said the BJP will take a call on how to go about the election after the DMA announces the date for the chairperson’s election.
